I’m a fan of Howard Lindzon, his blog is usually good for both a laugh and a think in the morning. The problem is that he’s often focused on market movements (Howard’s startup is StockTwits and his background is as a banker), so you don’t always get a chance to hear his sage advice for startups. This is all meant to explain why it was great to see Howard’s thoughts int the interview above on how a Montreal can advance its startup ecosystem.
I think patience (which he talks about for the first minute or so) is an underrated virtue in maturing a startup ecosystem. While it’s good to make sure that there is a buzz in the city around startups, you can’t force it. This is especially true if forcing it involves placing expectations that are sure to lead to disappointment.
