When you’re working out and building endurance or muscle mass there are two keys that almost everyone misses. The first is resting a day or two per week and a light week each month. The second is variation. Even when your goal is running marathons you need sprints, cross training and interval training.
As I drive up to my vacation home I am thinking about how the same thing applies to building a career. I am planning to take this week to work considerably less than normal, read some slightly off topic books and spend some time on some of the projects (both work and personal) that often don’t fit in to my regular schedule.
