A Note or Two on “Occupy Wall Street”

A Note or Two on “Occupy Wall Street”

This whole “Occupy Wall Street” business is starting to upset me and I thought I’d offer a few opinions:

  1. I walked past the bull and the exchange as well as through the financial district more generally while I was in New York last Friday and didn’t see a single protester.  Perhaps it’s because there are actually only a few of them and I wasn’t really looking for them.  Perhaps it’s because it was raining and when you don’t know what you’re rallying for, you don’t do it in the rain.
  2. The video above is Erin Burnett (probably the most famous Wall Street personality this side of Jim Cramer) interviewing them.  It plays like a “Jay Walking” segment on the Tonight Show.  What self-respecting, well-informed, conscientious protester agrees to an interview with Erin Burnett?  Wait, don’t answer that… that’s not the type of protesters we have down there right now.
  3. How many tax dollars do you suppose the people camping in that park contributed to pay for the park they’re in?  More or less than the guys in the banks that they want arrested.

Ok, time for me to wrap this up because I’m a productive member of society and only have so much time to spend on this.
