MicroMedia in the Burgh

MicroMedia in the Burgh

I wrote last week about the changing world of Mass Media.  Well, some of the future is here in Pittsburgh and I thought I’d bring it to my readers attention:

  1. The Baristas is a “For the Internet” TV program produced right here in the Burgh.  It’s humorous and well put together and exactly the kind of thing that scares the jeepers out of the cable companies and networks.
  2. The next is PublicSource.  It’s a non-profit news agency that does investigative journalism in to stories with a public interest.  This means that some of the best journalism in the city is not being done FOR a big news outlet (though the Post-Gazette and several other Mass Media companies are partnered).  This means a seperation between the content and the medium and is a step forward for the type of changes I talked about in last weeks post.

P.S. The Baristas is currently in a competition for a commercial about dotTV on facebook, you should go vote for them.
