This post is the 1000th one that I’ve made on the Blog of Burgher Jon and I thought it would be worth it to mark the occasion. The first blog post appeared (actually on Blogspot) back in September of 2007 and since then 10s, maybe even 100s of people have been enjoying my commentary on the Burgh, technology, and social media. It’s become pretty clear that I’m not Fred Wilson (who gets more hits some days than I’ve had in almost 6 years) or the next great pundit of any sort, so why keep blogging?
The answer is that it was never about becoming a pundit, it is about forcing myself to think critically about the issues facing technology today. Making a blog post, having an opinion and stating it on public record, is a great way to be sure that you’ve done your research and thought critically about the subject. When I write something worth reading it often results in some conversation around the topic as well.
So if you have enjoyed the blog periodically over the last 6 years and picked up a conversation with me or in the comments, THANKS! I’m looking forward to 1000 more.
