The Upside to Being Leashed

My Walk to Starbucks Through Times Square is a Little Different This AM

Between my laptop and my cell phone there’s often little difference in my availability when I’m “on vacation” and when I’m “at the office.”  I always respond quickly and I’m usually up early in the morning for a few hours worth of work.  This technology is often referred to as a “leash” by cynical businessmen and women.  This may be true, but let’s remember that leashes were invented for a reason.  These technologies and this work ethic allow me to remain effective at work even though I’m often traveling up to the lake or down to Charlotte or staying with my mother after she has surgery or heading to Penn State for a football game or dropping in to NYC to visit some friends.  In this way my “leash” functions like an actual one… it lets me stay attached to my job even when I leave the house.  If you have a leash, I suggest you take advantage too!

In fact, the view above is what I saw when I headed over to the Starbucks this AM.

You are absolutely correct. The 1st.time I saw the Apple Newton commercials in 1990′s I couldn’t wait for that reality to arrive. Being virtually tethered since the mid 90′s has.helped my work output enormously. I also feel that when I come back from a vacation, my 1st 2 days back are not a.blur of catch up
