On a Blogroll for the Blog of Burgher Jon

I have debated on whether or not to put a blogroll (from the English for Blog Honor Roll) on this blog since I decided to relaunch it with its current Pittsburgh/Technology theme.  In the past several years my blog has gone from no blogroll to a long, comprehensive one and back several times.  This time I’ve decided to go with a compromise.  I think my readers are interested in one of (or hopefully both of) two things; Pittsburgh and startups.  I think I provide valuable insight on both of these and especially their confluence (to borrow a term).  I have decided to keep a very limited blogroll (no more then 9 blogs at a time).  I want these blogs to be the top 3 blogs on Pittsburgh, the top 3 on Startups in general and the top 3 on Pittsburgh Startups.  I will not add a blog to the blogroll unless I find it absolutely indispensable (consequently, there are only 2 blogs presently under Pittsburgh Startups).

Here are the blogs headed on to the blogroll this morning, I will make posts any time they are updated:

  • Pittsburgh Startup Blogs
    • Pittsburgh Ventures – Alan Veeck offers insight as one of the principals at Meakem Becker.
    • TechBurgher – The Pittsburgh Technology Council’s blog. They offer frequent updates on their 1300 member companies (all small technology firms in SWPA).
  • Startup Blogs
    • A VC – One of the industry’s most respected investors offers daily insights.
    • Chris Dixon’s Blog – Great coverage of the startup/VC scene from an entrepreneur that’s active in the game.
    • Seth’s Blog – The Blog of Seth Godin, one of the great writers on social media.
  • Pittsburgh Blogs
    • Null Space – Chris Briem’s indispensable look at Pittsburgh. Chris attacks many of Pittsburgh’s problems with a statistical twist that informs all of his readers.
    • Pittsblog – Mike Madison (with occasional help) provides a look in to some of the more popular issues in Pittsburgh.
    • Pittsburgh Today – Harold Miller and others look at the progress Pittsburgh is making as a City. Particularly powerful are their comparisons with other similar cities.
